How you can Help

As a community garden, we are open to all sorts of expertise, including:

  • landscape construction and maintenance
  • herbalists, botanists, gardeners
  • trades
  • admin, co-ordination
  • outreach, promotion
  • youth educators
  • volunteers

Some specific items:

  • The Environment Network has generously donated 4 rain barrels. However, we are looking for some eavestrough installations and simple platform construction for the barrels.
  • We have funding for a welcome sign
  • Permanent outdoor benches and chairs make a great dedication

Are you connected with these groups? Do you know other interested groups? (bold items are confirmed):

  • BVCS Community Advisory Council
  • hardware stores, nurseries (Fiddlehead, etc.), individuals (Joan Gaudet) for growing space, supplies, plants
  • Dedicate or adopt a tree/plant/garden bed/bench/sign
  • pawpaw dedication/commemoration for Mac Kirk
  • church groups
  • Scouting and Girl Guides movement
  • Grey County Master Gardeners, Horticultural Society, 599 garden group
  • Service Clubs: Rotary Club, Lion’s Club, Probus – Beaver Valley, Kinsmen and Kinettes
  • corporate team-building activity
  • Collingwood Collegiate Institute
  • Transition Town groups: Meaford, Collingwood/Beaver Valley
  • Grey Bruce Centre for AgroEcology

Ways to recognize a sponsor/volunteer:

  • acknowledgement during PR opportunities: workshops, thank-you events, grand opening/groundbreaking, photo-ops
  • press releases, media outlets, and social media avenues, cross-promotions from partner organizations, garden signage
